Reading a good book not only allows the reader to gain a lifetime of knowledge and pleasure, but allows the reader to travel the world throughtout the ages without ever leaving their home. They get to experience and see what all the great men and women of hisrory experienced. They can be there when Alexander the Great nearly ruled the known world; when Hannibal crossed the snow-covered Alps with his herd of elephants to invade Italy; when Julius Caesar was assassinated; when the sun never set on English soil; when the United States came into its own; when brother fought brother in the bloody American Civil War. Pick a place and a time, and you can go there through the magic of books.
