The Author

I was born in 1936 in Amarillo, Texas. I am a fourth generation Texan. My maternal great-great-grandparents were from Ireland, and were early pioneers in Parker County,Texas, just west of Ft. Worth, arriving in the county in the mid-1850's. My Paternal ancestors immigrated from Germany, and were living in Lee County, Virginia in the early 1700's. Many of the men on this side of the family served in the Florida Indian Wars, or fought in the Civil War on the Confederate side. I also have Cherokee American Native blood in my maternal ancestry.

The Author

I attended school in the Amarillo public school system and graduated from Amarillo High School. I attended Amarillo Jr. College and West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas. After moving to Dallas in 1966, I graduated from The University of Texas at Arlington, located in Arlington, Texas. I received my BBA degree in Accounting and later obtained my CPA certificate. After a long career in Accounting in the Dallas area, my wife of 45 years, Mickey, and I retired. I first started writing by penning several poems. That then led to a short Children's Book titled "The Adventures of Henry Pigg." As I grew bolder, I decided to attempt a full-length novel. It took me approximately four months to write "Up from the Past." Not having suffered enough, I started my second full-length novel. This one took me a little over 10 weeks to complete, and is titled "An Evening with the Kimball's." Then, after suffering severe frustration over the incompetent and infuriating actions of our two-party representatives, I wrote the blistering novel "We the People - The Final Solution", venting my anger and disgust over a political system in Washington that no longer works for the people. All of my works are featured on this website. My wife spends a great deal of her time in making beautiful, all-hand-made quilts. She has won numerous ribbons for her crafts and quilting at the Texas State Fair. She has won a first place award in the prestigious Dallas Quilt Show.

Garland Home

My wife and I currently live in Garland, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. We have lived in our current neighborhood for 26 years. We have three daughters and eight grandchildren, most of which are now grown. We have several great-grandchildren, with potentially more to come.

I have been an avid reader since my early high school days. I enjoy both fiction and non-fiction works. I am a Texas history buff, and have read many books about our great state. Perhaps my favorite book of fiction is "Catch - 22" by Joseph Heller. A masterpiece of logic and humor. Some of my favorite authors are (not in any particular order): John Steinbeck, James Michener, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Agathe Christie, Mickey Spillane, Robert Parker, Larry McMurtry, John Updike, Ayn Rand, Bram Stoker, Mark Twain, Jack London, etc. Now that I started writing down the author's names, I find that there are too many to mention. To some extent, I like most writings I have read. Each author has something to tell me, and I owe it to them to listen. One thing I am certain about, though, is who my favorite fictional character is: Sherlock Holmes. I only wish I had been the one who created him. I enjoy poetry I can understand and that relates to everyday living. I am of the old school and have no objection to poetry that rhymes. Call me old fashion, but what you see is what you get. My musical taste is wide and varied. I like traditional country music (not rock and roll musicians that wear cowboy hats), popular music of the 40's and 50's, some rock and roll music of the 50's, classical music, folk music of the 60's, and some current artists that I can understand, and that actually have some talent.

To those who honor me by reading any of my works, I thank you for that privilege. I only hope that the time you devoted to reading my stories has been enjoyable, and has brought a few moments of pleasure to you. My novels are intended to provide you with some moments free from the stress of ordinary living and transport you into the world of adventure, suspense, humor, and surprise. With my political discussions, I hope to provoke some serious thoughts from the reader who is concerned about the current direction of our country. Please get involved and help change it for the better. I hope my poems bring you a few moments of serious thought, some laughter, and, above all else, some moments of relaxation. My Children's story is meant to take your children into the world of make-believe, where every child needs to travel at some point in their lives. It's a marvelous place to be.

Thank you for visiting my website.

Sincerely yours,

C. D. King
